How to EarnFFXIV Gil& Other Rewards in Heavensturn

What better way to start 2022 in Final Fantasy XIV than by participating in a New Year’s event? Check out the quests and rewards that Heavensturn has to offer.

Much to the players’ dismay, Eorzea’s annual New Year’s event has been delayed. The decorations for the said event began popping up on December 31, 2021, and while Heavensturn won’t become available until January 5 of 2022, at least we know that the show will go on. The delay is due to the MMO’s latest expansion, Endwalker, being postponed for a few weeks when the developers announced that they’ll be moving its release from November to December. Thankfully, Heavensturn is now live since the patch 6.05 update went live and is also set to introduce the first Savage raids of the Endwalker expansion, consisting of the first four circles of the Pandaemonium. So just what can players expect in the Heavensturn event? Is this the perfect chance for them to farm some FFXIV gil?

The Start and End of Heavensturn

The Final Fantasy XIV Heavensturn event officially went live on January 5 and will go on for two weeks, ending on January 19. To participate in the Heavensturn, you’ll either need to have a Disciple of War or Magic and have a minimum level of 15. Should you meet the requirements, then you can head to the Upper Decks in LimsaLominsa to speak to Tora Bugyo. After the meeting with Tora, you’ll be sent on a mission called “Tangled with a Tora” to go head-to-head against a tiger. When you’ve completed the quest, you can get rewards like FFXIV gil and also choose one of the two tiger-themed Kabuto helmets.

What the Heavensturn Event is All About

All of FFXIV’s annual events, in some way or form, allow players to get a brief respite from their usual adventures to experience limited, fun stories. Best of all, exclusive items can be earned every year. In 2021, the Heavensturn event offered ox-themed rewards, while in 2022, they’re giving out tiger-themed ones. Previous festivals of Heavensturn also celebrated the Year of the Monkey, Rooster, Dragon, Rabbit, Sheep, and many more. The event first came into Final Fantasy XIV in 2011 and has only been postponed once in 2013, when the game transitioned to A Realm Reborn.

The best way to sum up Heavensturn in FFXIV is that it’s a celebration of The Twelve that watches over Eorzea for the years to come. The celestial beings are represented annually in the Far East by a creature that takes place of a chosen member of The Twelve. All of the beasts constitute a certain theme for each version of the Heavensturn festival. And, more importantly, this annual event in FFXIV lets players celebrate a new year in Eorzea. We all know by now that the pandemic caused everyone to have a tough time during 2019-2021, so the festival is the perfect time for fans to usher in 2022 in hopes that things will get better.

Collecting Limited-Time Rewards

After finishing the “Tangled with a Tora” quest for Heavensturn 2022, you get Heavensturn tickets alongside the rewards we’ve already talked about. In past iterations, you can use these tickets from the event to exchange for items. There are new, limited-time rewards that can be acquired for the Heavensturn 2022 event, such as the White Tiger furnishing which costs 3 tickets, the Silver-lacquered Tiger Helmet for 5 tickets, and the Gold-lacquered Tiger Helmet which also costs 5 tickets. It can be a bit of a grind, but it’s worth it to get these glamorous cosmetics for your FFXIV account.

If you’re one of those people that missed out on the previous Heavensturn events, you can simply give a visit to the seasonal event vendor or check out an FFXIV store online. There, you’ll be able to purchase the past Kabuto Helmets. Note that you can only buy the previous items from the festival after completing this year’s quest.

Final Thoughts

The short delay of Heavensturn might have put a damper on things, but at the very least, it ultimately wasn’t canceled. There are a lot of seasonal events in FFXIV that offer similar rewards likeFFXIV gil, but if we had to pick one that’s truly special, the Heavensturn festival is one event that you shouldn’t miss out on. Make sure to complete the quests to get the free rewards before the event ends on January 19, since the tiger-themed items won’t be available anymore once it ends.
